In fact, children who are scheduled for surgery are encouraged to bring in their own blanket or stuffed animal - anything that will make them feel more secure. I fell after skiing and was later diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear. Just a short while ago, surgery to repair an injury like this would have been a major procedure requiring hospitalization. I felt fortunate that this surgery can now be done athroscopically - and on an outpatient basis - at Lansing Genesis. Everything went so smoothly. There was no downside.
